Burnley and Pendle MG Owners Club
Sunday July 26th saw 88 Cars registered and ready for the 17th running of this event.

Unfortunately the weather let us down this year and although we lived in hope of the weathermen being wrong the day was wet, very wet at times.

The run took the cars out to Colne and then over the old Skipton road to Broughton and from there on to Gargrave. A short hop to Hetton and then to Embsay, over Black Park, with spectacular views ( when the weather is kinder), over the back roads to Burnsall and Hebden. The route then took the cars to Grassington and over a one track lane to Kettlewell.

Here they turned towards home. However a subtle change of direction took them over another single track road to Litton and on to Halton Gill, where they took the high road to Stainforth. This is one of the most picturesque roads in the area, in good weather.

From Stainforth, via the narrowest of lanes and bridges the cars took off for Austwick and on to the A65 for a few hundred yards before turning towards the Forest of Gisburn. Via Stocks Reservoir the cars made their way to Gisburn, on to Bracewell and through Barnoldswick back to base at The Old Stone Trough Inn, Kelbrook.

Despite the weather the entrants all praised the route and the directions given, declaring that the route would have been spectacular in better weather.

There were only two retirees and we understabnd that the cars are now back to there former glory and running well.

Back at base there was food and entertainment laid on which seemed to go down well.

The efforts of all the club members in putting the event together was rewarded when the Association for Guide Dogs was presented with a cheque for £1000.00 as a result of the Tool sale, Raffles and Auction etc..

Planning now starts for next year, hope to see you there.
